First Time in Ibiza: The Clubbing Guide for Beginners

· Updated:

For a first trip to Ibiza, pick your clubs by the music you like, not by name, buy tickets online before you go, carry your original passport or ID card, and sort out transport before the night starts. The season runs from late April to mid-October, and June or September give you the full programme without the August crowds. This guide covers the essentials and links to our detailed guides on each topic.

The five rules

  • Choose by music. Each club and each night of the week has its own sound; the table below is the shortcut.
  • Buy in advance. Ibiza Spotlight says the door price is usually €10 to €20 higher, sometimes more, and popular nights sell out.
  • Bring your original ID. Every club is 18+, and the big ones refuse photocopies or photos (UshuaĂŻa and HĂŻ don't take driving licences either).
  • Plan the way home. Taxi queues at closing time are long, so know your Discobus or shuttle, or book a ride.
  • Pace yourself. Mix day parties, sunsets and big nights rather than going out until 6am every night.

Where to stay

Where you sleep decides how easy your nights are. Playa d'en Bossa puts you next to UshuaĂŻa and HĂŻ, with DC10 a short ride away. San Antonio is the cheaper base, with Eden, Es Paradis, O Beach and the Sunset Strip on foot and the Discobus or free shuttles to the big clubs. Ibiza Town suits a dressier trip around Pacha, LĂo and Chinois. Amnesia and [UNVRS] sit in San Rafael, in the middle: you go there, you don't stay there.

How to plan your nights

Our suggestion for a week: two or three big club nights, one day party, one sunset and boat evening, and at least one quiet night. Start with the residency you want most, because each night of the week belongs to a different party at each club, then build around it. UshuaĂŻa finishes at 23:00, so UshuaĂŻa followed by HĂŻ across the road is a classic double, but you'll need a ticket for each. And don't arrive at opening time: Ibiza Spotlight puts the best time to hit the dancefloor between midnight and 01:00.

What it costs

Ibiza is expensive at night, and it's better to know it in advance. Ibiza Spotlight's 2026 guide puts a beer at roughly €10 to €15 and a long drink at €15 to €26, and recommends drink bundles where clubs offer them. Tickets vary a lot with the night and the headliner; our cost guide has the published prices and market ranges. Two tips: cancellation insurance usually costs €5 to €10 per ticket, and every club takes cards, so you don't need to carry much cash.

Tickets: online, on the door and avoiding scams

Buy from the club or a recognised ticketing platform, and be wary of cheap resale tickets on social media. UshuaĂŻa and HĂŻ both say tickets bought in advance are cheaper than on the door, and some events have cheaper early-entry tickets with a cut-off time. Your eTicket on your phone is enough, but keep your battery charged. If you want a table or a guestlist spot, ask us.

Door rules: age, ID and what to wear

You must be 18 everywhere (Pikes is 27+), and the big clubs want your original passport or ID card. For clothes, the safe default at any big club is no flip-flops, no swimwear, no tank tops and no football shirts, plus a small bag: UshuaĂŻa and HĂŻ refuse anything bigger than a standard handbag. LĂo and Chinois are dressier, with long trousers for men, and so is any VIP area. Once you're in, stay in: UshuaĂŻa, HĂŻ and Amnesia don't allow re-entry.

Getting around

In summer the Discobus links San Antonio, Ibiza Town and Playa d'en Bossa with the big clubs for around €4 to €5, and Pacha and [UNVRS] run free one-way shuttles from San Antonio for ticket holders. Taxis are the rest: only take licensed ones with the green light, and expect queues at closing time. Ibiza Spotlight is also clear on one more thing: the clubs have a zero-tolerance drug policy and the island's drug laws are strictly enforced.

Before you fly: checklist

  • Dates checked against the season (late April to mid-October) and the residencies you want.
  • Tickets bought online, with cancellation insurance if your plans might change.
  • Original passport or ID card for every night out.
  • Clothes that pass the door: closed shoes or proper sandals, long trousers for VIP, LĂo or Chinois.
  • A small bag, a charged phone and a card.
  • Transport home planned: Discobus line, shuttle times or a booked taxi.
